2018 Annual Review

Our Annual Review, looking back on our work in 2018, has now been published. Our research manager Desh Mofidi picks out some of his highlights.

We are pleased to be able to present the annual review for 2018. It was a year full of new challenges and unexplored opportunity. 2018 saw the highest number of applications ever being submitted across the main PRUK funding schemes. Over £175K of funding was committed in 2018 for pharmacists to engage in important research and to support the development of their research skills. A key part of the annual review is the change in staff for the charity, including Guy Parckar joining as our new CEO half way through the year. The change in charity staffing presented new challenges, however there were also opportunities to review and strengthen our position as the principal funder of pharmacy research in the UK.

A review of the research strategy was also undertaken in 2018 by our Scientific Advisory Panel and Trustee Board, which enabled us to determine what areas of research are important to invest in for the foreseeable future. The details of the new three-year strategy will be published shortly. We are looking forward to developing new opportunities in 2019, including partnering with other major research funders to maximise the opportunities available for pharmacists to engage in research.

The 2018 annual review is available to view on this page.
