Patient & Public Involvement Representative (Scientific Advisory Panel)
Pharmacy Research UK (PRUK) is the principle funder of pharmacy research in the UK. Established in 2012, building on the work of two former funders, our mission is to support pharmacy and pharmacists by funding research that will lead to improvements in practice and patient benefit.
We fund research across a wide range of topics, as is demonstrated by the portfolio of projects that we have funded in the past. This is an exciting time for PRUK as we look to strengthen our position within the UK as a lead research funder for pharmacy, working with other key organisations to achieve this aim.
The Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) provides strategic advice to the Board of Trustees on the development of PRUK’s grant giving strategy, objectives and research priorities. The Panel also plays an important role in ensuring that the research we fund is fairly assessed and of the highest quality. We have a Patient and Public representative on the Panel, who advises on how our activities are tailored and grounded to maximising benefit for patients in the longer run.
We are seeking to appoint one more member of the public to the Panel, as Patient and Public Involvement representative, to help guide our research programme and priorities. The member will be a key part of the grant award process and will lead the public review of our applications, take part in candidate interviews and make recommendations for funding.
You do not need to be an expert in pharmacy or research to apply, but we are looking for people with an interest in our work, ideally with a background in patient and public advocacy work in research. Candidates should bring enthusiasm and a willingness to think creatively and speak their mind.
The Panel meets twice annually in London for a full day meeting. There will be some preparatory work in the lead up to the meetings, such as with reviewing applications for funding, therefore consideration needs to be made for work prior to the meetings and all members must be available to contact outside of the meeting via email.
Public members will be fully inducted into the charity and given one-to-one support, advice and training throughout their tenure. Public members will be reimbursed for their attendance at the SAP meetings and for reasonable expenses.
If you are interested in this role please email your CV and a covering letter to Desh Mofidi at firstname.lastname@example.org. The closing date for this role is 9am on 5th December.
