About the Network
Welsh Research in Antimicrobial Pharmacy (WRAP) is a national network for pharmacy professionals across Wales with an interest in antimicrobial pharmacy research. The group provides strategic leadership, promotes collaboration, and supports the development of research that improves the safe and effective use of antimicrobial medicines.
WRAP works closely with the Welsh Antimicrobial Pharmacy Group (WAPG), reporting directly to the group, which in turn reports to the Directors of Pharmacy in Wales. Through collaboration with healthcare organisations, universities, and national partners, WRAP aims to strengthen pharmacy-led research and improve patient care across Wales. WRAP seeks to align with and support the recommendations of Pharmacy Research Wales (PRW) within the antimicrobial pharmacy community. Further information regarding pharmacy research in Wales and the work of PRW is available here.

The network meets online every quarter, providing members with the opportunity to:

- Discuss current challenges and priorities in antimicrobial pharmacy.
- Develop collaborative research opportunities.
- Exchange knowledge and best practice with colleagues from across Wales.
Membership
Membership is free and open to all pharmacy professionals across Wales, including:
- Pharmacists
- Pharmacy Technicians
The network welcomes members of all research experience levels, from those taking their first steps into research to experienced researchers looking to collaborate on larger projects.
Research and Collaboration
WRAP actively supports collaborative research and leadership opportunities, including undergraduate (MPharm) and Foundation Training Year (FTY) postgraduate research projects. Members are encouraged to work together across organisations, helping to strengthen antimicrobial pharmacy research throughout Wales.
Mentorship is available to support pharmacy professionals in developing their research knowledge, skills, and confidence.
The group values the contribution of the entire pharmacy workforce. Pharmacy Technicians are active members of WRAP and have opportunities to collaborate on research projects and contribute to the network. While the Chair position is currently held by a pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician members also provide leadership through related Welsh Antimicrobial Pharmacy Group subgroups, including the guideline group.
Get Involved
Whether you are new to research or already leading projects, WRAP offers a welcoming environment to connect with colleagues, develop research skills, contribute to collaborative studies, and help advance antimicrobial pharmacy practice across Wales.
