How We Work
The HSRPP conference is directed by a Steering Group made up of senior pharmacy academics who oversee the conference abstract submission process.
Abstracts accepted for HSRPP are published in the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice (IJPP). The IJPP is one of the leading journals in the field with a rigorous peer review process.
The key aim of the conference is to disseminate the work of early career pharmacy researchers. This allows for researchers and peers within health service research in pharmacy to come together and network with upcoming researchers within the field.
The HSRPP Steering Group is committed to providing guidance and detailed feedback to applicants to enable them to produce publishable abstracts. Our abstract adjudication lead time is consequently longer than some other conferences.
Following the deadline date for submission, abstracts are sent to trios of steering group members for adjudication. Steering group members review the abstracts using a structured assessment form and then meet to discuss their recommendations. The majority of successful abstracts are accepted on condition they address amendments recommended by the Steering Group.
Detailed feedback is also provided to unsuccessful applicants to aid the future development of their abstracts.
Following the meeting, requested amendments are communicated to applicants and they are given a deadline by which to return their amended abstracts. Once amended abstracts are received, they are passed to the Steering Group for final sign-off. Following sign-off, successful applicants are informed whether they have been allocated an oral or poster presentation and the theme of the session to which their abstract has been allocated.
There are a number of ways you can help with the adjudication and processing of your abstract:
- Please ensure your abstract is formatted correctly as per the abstract submission guidance. Unlike some conferences, we allow applicants with incorrectly formatted abstracts to make revisions, but please be aware that this impacts on our timeline.
- Should you have any questions regarding the feedback from our steering group, please contact us as soon as possible.
- Please abide by the deadline you are given to return your abstract. Deadlines for submitting abstract amendments have been set to align with our proofing and publication timetable and late submissions delay this process.
We aim to be as transparent as possible about our processes. Should you have any questions regarding our operations, please contact us.
