Research Proposal Writing Course

Pharmacy Research UK (PRUK) and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) are joining forces to run a two day research proposal writing course  on the 6th and 7th March for pharmacists who are looking to apply for research funding in 2018. The workshop covers the proposal writing process from start to finish and is designed to provide grounding in how to submit a successful application. The two day course will consist of six sessions covering topics such as how to identify an appropriate funding stream, build a case for a funding application, choose the right research method and carry out data processing and analysis. The course will be run by Professor Felicity Smith from the UCL School of Pharmacy and aims to provide attendees with the awareness, skills and tools to write a well thought-out and achievable research proposal.

PRUK recently announced that our Awards and Bursaries scheme will be open to non-RPS pharmacists from 2018. We are therefore delighted to be able to offer a special discount of £70 off to the first five non-RPS pharmacists who both attend the workshop and apply in time for the PRUK 2018 Awards and Bursaries round. Once five researchers have submitted their application and purchased their ticket through the RPS site we will refund the first five £70, bringing their overall ticket price down from £300 to £270.

If you are planning to apply to one of our awards, this course will provide a pivotal opportunity to get your research proposal off the ground through access to the shared wisdom and expertise of experienced and well-established researchers. Applications for our awards and bursaries are now open until the 2nd May and further information is available here.

Kristina Medlinskiene, previous course attendee said: ‘The format of the two days stimulated thinking about your project and the grant application. Most importantly it gave me a direction, a sense of ‘right, this is clearer now’. By the end of the two days I had a preliminary action plan which identified crucial tasks that I needed to address first.’
